- Gargle with a mixture of warm water and 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of salt.
- Drink warm liquids that feel soothing to the throat, such as hot tea with honey, soup broth, or warm water with lemon. Herbal teas are especially soothing to a sore throat
- Cool your throat by treating yourself to a Popsicle or an Ice cream.

1. Try Grandma’s Salt Water Therapy
The salty solution helps to clean away and deactivate acids in the throat, relieving the burning sensation and promoting fast healing of irritated mucus. The Saltwater will calm inflammation by reducing acidity that leads to throat irritation.
Mixing 1⁄4 teaspoon salt in 1 cup warm water. (Heat the water at a temperature that you can comfortably consume). Gargle every hour or two for effective results.
2. Lemon Water Treatment for a Smooth Throat
Mix 1 teaspoon of lemon juice in 1 cup of water for this home remedy for sore throats. The astringent juice will help to contract swollen throat tissue and form an antagonistic environment for viruses and bacteria.
3. Hot Sauce and Water Solution
The capsicum in hot peppers helps to ease the pain and fights inflammation. Add five shakes of ground cayenne pepper (or a few shakes of hot sauce) to a cup of hot water for a sore throat It’ll burn, but try to gargle every 15 minutes and let the hot peppers work as a counter to your condition.
4. Clove Tea
Cloves have antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that can help soothe and heal a sore throat. Add 1 to 3 teaspoons of powdered or ground cloves to water, then mix and gargle.

When you want a temporary relief you can try gargling with a mixture of 1/2 cup of tomato juice and 1/2 cup of hot water, plus about 10 drops of hot pepper sauce. The antioxidant properties of lycopene may help to cure a sore throat faster.

7. Apple Cider Vinegar and Salt
If your throat feels dry by a bad cough, give your throat an acidic coating with the help of apple cider vinegar. The germs can’t survive when there is an acidic coating on your throat.
Gargle with 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and 1 teaspoon of salt dissolved in a glass of warm water.
Repeat the process several times a day, if needed. For a mild treatment, combine 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar and 1/4 cup of honey and take 1 tablespoon every four hours.
8. Peppermint Oil
It is known for its ability to refresh the breath. Diluted peppermint oil sprays may also relieve sore throats. It contains menthol, which helps thin mucus and calm sore throats and coughs.
